NJ HIMSS News
After many successful years, the Healthcare Information Systems Management Association (HISMA) has become the New Jersey Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (NJ HIMSS).
HISMA was formed in the early '80s by a group of hospital-based healthcare information management executives in conjunction with the New Jersey Hospital Association. Its objective was to promote technical education and camaraderie among healthcare information technology professionals in the Garden State.
At this year's HIMSS Conference in San Diego, NJ HIMSS hosted its first meeting on Feb. 14. This transition will help give New Jersey healthcare information technology professionals better access to regional HIMSS seminars and resources, while at the same time keeping the well-established HISMA mission and traditions moving forward.
With the advent of national e-health initiatives, this transition also offers the state's healthcare information technology professionals the opportunity to collaborate with other HIMSS chapters and members across the country.
